RDRV is a new service created by VCAT to help Victorian renters and rental providers resolve disputes conveniently without needing a full and formal hearing.

This is where our Resolution Coordinators come in. These specialist staff are all accredited mediators and have extensive experience helping Victorians resolve rental issues and disputes.

Working with you to get to a fair outcome

Our Resolution Coordinators are here to help you reach a fair outcome when it comes to typical disputes, including issues across:

  • Bond refunds
  • Compensation cases
  • Repair and maintenance issues, and
  • Rent increases

We understand that managing these issues can be stressful, which is why your RDRV Resolution Coordinator is dedicated to managing your case from start to finish.

One key aim of RDRV is to help reach an agreement on your case without the need for a full hearing.

Your Resolution Coordinator manages your case to help you reach a quick and fair outcome: they will keep you up to date through the process of your case and support you to get ready for your hearing (if needed).

Helping you to settle your rental dispute

Your Resolution Coordinator understands the pressures people can face when managing a rental dispute. Clear communication can help. Your Resolution Coordinator will keep in touch with you and inform you about any information or documents you need to prepare to keep your case moving.

“Your Resolution Coordinator will explain the RDRV process, what material a VCAT Member may need to consider at the hearing and any options for resolving your dispute and enforcement options, ensuring that you can make an informed decision about managing your dispute”
said Julia Sharp, Team Manager, Resolution Team

One of the ways your Resolution Coordinator can help to resolve your case more quickly is by playing the role of an independent and balanced facilitator.

“All of our Resolution Coordinators are accredited mediators; they are trained to resolve disputes and engage in regular learning sessions to keep up to date with industry knowledge and any legal changes. Their skill sets are ideally suited to helping you resolve your dispute. If your case is complex, our Resolution Coordinators can also call on the expertise of VCAT members”
